North Beach

It’s not far from the coast, but North Beach in San Francisco has no beach. It’s known for the Italian American community. Ford Cappola wrote “Godfather” at the Caffe Trieste. Peter & Paul Catholic Church is situated at Filbert St. Powell St. and Columbus Avenue that cuts diagonally in the area.

The Coit Tower at Telegraph Hill is a great attraction and gives the best view of the city. This monument was one of the reasons I wanted to go back to more sightseeing in San Francisco this past summer.

Washington Square Park, which is undergoing restoration, has a memorial for firemen. By luck, I caught a fire truck and a building in matching colours.

  1. Beautiful post. I enjoyed the tour of San Francisco through your camera lens. I have been in San Francisco once and I loved the area. My children where there last year on vacation. They came home with a lot of wonderful photos.

  2. Thank you for teaching me more about our history. i now want to study yours. I am eager to read my book on Viking history and also and my other on on Norse mythology. At our nearby beach they found a runic stone with probably later Viking inscriptions. Our town is building a replica of Maine’s First Ship—the1607 Virginia—in a later Viking style to commemorate Maine’s first settlers. Virginia territory originally went from Maine to Virginia. The second ship went to Virginia. They stayed. The Maine settlers built their ship, but between hostile indians and cold, the survivors sailed the Virginia back to England when their leader’s older brother died and the leader could go home and inherit the land.
