Holmen our Former Naval Station

The iconic Mast Crane and two retired navel ships

When museums open, I will again go to the Naval Museum in Copenhagen to search for more knowledge on building our Naval fleet. Many of my ancestors worked on building these ships in the nineteenth century. They were housed in a specific area of Copenhagen Nyboder with their own doctors and police force. It was like a city in the city of Copenhagen. The Former Naval Station, Holmen, is situated on small islands opposite our harbour, the Little Mermaid and The Royal Palace.
