If We Were Having Coffee- A Blogging Event
If we were having coffee I would tell you that a dream has come true. It’s an old dream and to go back to where it started would take you to Copenhagen 1975. As a young student nurse, my life had taken a new turn. I shared a flat with another student nurse in the area close to Nyboder where my grandmother had lived until she got married.
I had given my life over to Jesus as my years as a young person had been a misery. Searching for true love ended up in alcoholism and broken relationships. The last one was an abusive Polish man. This huge step out of the old life helped me to want to live but I still suffered from negative thoughts about myself and struggled with fear of people and loneliness.
I had just moved to this flat but the light was still not functioning due to some misunderstanding with the electric company. My things seemed hidden for me in cardboard boxes.
I found my bible and happened to read from Is 62:22. I read it in the light of a candle:
The least one shall become a thousand, and the small one a strong nation. I, the Lord, will hasten it in its appointed time.
And from Is. 54:1-2
Sing, o barren one, you who did not travail with child! For the spiritual children of the desolate one will be more than the married wife, says the Lord. Enlarge the place of your tent, let the curtains of your habitations be starched out; spare not; lengthen your cords and strengthen your stakes …..
I instantly knew it was speaking to me and that God saw me in my lonely situation and promised me something seen as a light at the end of a tunnel.
Five years after this I got my first out of four children. After I retired as a health visitor for families with children I have come in contact with two young mothers who need me in each their way and this week they got each their new-born baby and I am able to be involved in their development! I have also close contact with *Stephanie a young woman who grew up with a mentally ill mother.
The 40 years old promise is coming true! I have soon four grandchildren and these three bonus babies and *Stephanie. I am very privileged.
