My Monthly Theme on Integrity
I have found it very difficult to change my character to become all that I dream of. My ideal is the woman described in Proverbs 31 in the Old Testament.
She is always ready for the time that’s coming. She is never afraid of accidents happening to her family. She is producing things that she sells and consider the costs of making new investments. She is very wise in the way she is counseling others.
These last words have been the ground I stood on during the many years in my counseling job as a Health Visitor. There have been big obstacles on my way though! I have spent lots of time and awake nights worrying about my children or difficulties in communicating with the families I visited at my job or my own close family. Hurt feelings that were very difficult to straighten out after they had entered the scene. Jesus puts it very directly in Matthew 5:44 and 48
But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you; You, therefore must be perfect ( growing into complete maturity and godliness in mind and character, having reached the proper height of virtue and integrity, as your Heavenly Father is perfect.
He asks us to do something that He knows we can’t manage. He wants us to trust Him for doing the things through us with the help of the Holy Spirit.
Another scripture says the same in Colossians 3:14:
And above all these things put on love and enfold yourselves with the bond of perfectness (which binds everything together completely in ideal harmony).
I think I have spent so many years on this changing process and lately I came across some new Christian teaching from a Christian Faith believing brain scientist Dr. Caroline Leaf. Series of teaching is available on Kenneth & Gloria Copeland’s web TV. She says that our brain is created for love and trust in God. I have decided to take this teaching in to boost myself to a higher level of trust and faith in Him.
Thank you to RebirthofLisa for this chance to make changes.
