Devotional Friday 23 October 2015
How to keep your life in balance is shown in II Peter 1:2-9
Peter tells us just before his death in Rome that we should let the grace of God be multiplied on us in the full, personal and precise and correct knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord ( inspired from the Amplified Bible)
- Grace is God’s favour
- Peace ( perfect well-being, all necessary good,
- all spiritual prosperity and freedom from fears and agitating passions and moral conflicts)
How do we get hold of these promises ?
By His divine power we can get into all that is suited to life and godliness and escape the moral decay that is in this world because of lust and greed.
We are supposed to add our diligence to the divine promises and employ every effort in exercising your faith to develop virtue and knowledge.
In exercising knowledge develop self-control and steadfastness and godliness.
If I am lacking in these qualities I am shortsighted and oblivious to the fact that I was cleansed from my old sins.
For the last 45 years I have tried to understand these things and I am sure many secret gems are hidden here.
This last bit reminds me of Paul’s letter to Colossians 1:13-14
The father has delivered and drawn us to Himself out of the control and dominion of darkness and has transferred us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in Whom we have our redemption through His blood, which means the forgiveness of our sins.

‘Grace’ is something I think about a lot. Astonishes me because I know that I am so unworthy. 🙂

Thank you Greg for reading and commenting. I am very easily stuck with that feeling and it think it comes from our childhood and youth believing that if we failed in something we were very ashamed. Our Father in heaven is not similar to a very strict earthly father though.
